The paper deals with the futurological aspect of the development of boarding schools. As boarding schools are essentially organizations they are dealt with as such. Further based on the data as collected in the research, the activity programmes and services of a boarding school are presented. The data of the research are processed and the trends and scenarios of development of boarding schools are established: organizational, material and educational (in terms of teaching values and facts). On the basis of the research four theoretical models have been established: educational, social, market and combined. Since they all are derived from the socialist model they all have many similarities but also essential differences in terms of organization, funding and conducting operations.
