With the implementation of the Educational Reform of Secondary Level in Mexico (12 to 15 years old), in 2006, the responsibility acquired by most of the teachers in the last three years in basic education get a big importance, considering that they depend assume the contents and the strategies with responsibility, in spite of the polemic that it caused since its beginning because of its complexity in our national reality. One of the characteristic that has the curriculum is an emphasis in developing competences and the definition of expected learning. The main point of this work is focused on the competences that are proposed by the curriculum to contribute to the achievement the graduated profile at the end of the secondary. To cover it, the following sections are presented: it begins with a contextualization about the learning process in different period along the history. The objective of this is to understand the reason why now, in XXI century, is considered the education based on competences a priority in the restructure of the curriculums in different educational levels as the correct to training to young students. In the second section it identifies the factors that take part in the learning, the same ones that are explained in the last part of this work, where it raises the education by competences. Along the work the proposals that appear in the curriculum of secondary approved in March 2006 are explained. From the information presented the work is concluded with some final reflections about the need to train to teachers who are developing competences.
