Ključne besede: mladinska izmenjava, stanovanjske skupine, otroci in mladostniki s težavami v vedenju in čustvovanju, alternativne oblike dela, kompetence, neformalno učenje

Abstract

Youth exchanges allow young people particularly vulnerable groups such as youngsters from our residential home group to develop competencies, to become aware of socially relevant themes and non-formal learning through exploring other cultures, traditions and lifestyles of their peers from other countries. The central themes of activity are coordinated by partners and youngsters taking active role from beginning till the end – they co-create a program that is not school oriented. Therefore participants express more motivation and personal satisfaction in process of learning new skills, knowledge and competencies. We consider youth exchange as a value-added to our pedagogic approach in our residential home group. In addition to the positive effects both on personal development as well as group dynamics, it allows learning about other cultures and developing respect for diversity, the creation of transnational cooperation and combating discrimination.

Keywords: youth exchange, residential home groups, youngsters with emotional and behavioral difficulties, alternative forms of work, competencies, non-formal learning
