Abstract

Work in dorm for high school students is defined by certain peculiarities which do not apply in other educational institutions. In dorm, students spend a lot of their time which they use for studying and other directed activities. Through that time and activities students can develop their own skills and personally mature. The project activity, described in this article, was carried out in students’ free time. The main goal was to combine learning, experience and personal activity under a single theme. Through the theme – which is connected to the existing curriculum topics from school, but presented through a different angle and with other methods of work (even through sensory perceptual channel – taste and touch) – students should be activated as much as possible. Besides all activities the most important aim was to increase interest in the selected learning topic, to upgrade and consolidate knowledge from school. Additionally, the activity should lead students on the way of responsible waste management, present them problems of nutrition, develop their personal skills and lead them in the way of intergenerational cooperation with its oldest members of their communities.
