Abstract

Health care takes place in different contexts, most often, the most emphasized concern is physical health. Movement is one of the most frequent and quality forms of preventing a variety of diseases and other health inconvenience, in addition, it is also an excellent prevention against stress. The article presents an example of good practice with which we have tried to motivate students in the Ivan Cankar boarding school doing sports through the campaign »1000 km«. Sport is a great health prevention and it also reduces some of the everyday pressure (school obligations, pressures of adolescence and the associated stress). The »1000 km« idea, which was launched at the beginning of the school year 2013/2014 and continued in the next one, was about motivating a greater number of students to participate in running activities. Among these activities, we came up with the second idea – to organize a »Running day«, in which students could run all day, regardless of their leisure time. On the first »Running day« (March 2014), the students ran continuously from 6:00 to 21:00, on the second »Running day« (March 2015) although running was not continuous, it was attended by even greater number of participants.
